The much-awaited Bhitarkanika Eco Retreat has been inaugurated on Sunday at the serene Pentha beach in Kendrapara district, by MLA of Rajnagar Dhruba Charan Sahoo. With this, the fourth edition of this unique event seeks to combine luxury with Bhitarkanika’s untamed natural beauty to render an unforgettable experience of Odisha’s rich biodiversity and scintillating charm for the visitors.
The eco-retreat has 30 air-conditioned cottages that are designed to provide five-star comfort in the heart of nature. These accommodations are perfect for both domestic and international travelers who want to spend a stay immersed yet indulged amidst the stunning landscapes and diversified wildlife of Bhitarkanika. The event presents Odisha’s commitment to eco-tourism, elevating the experience with enhanced facilities curated by the Tourism Department and district administration.

During the inaugural ceremony, Kendrapara Collector Smruti Ranjan Pradhan stressed on sustainable tourism and requested the visitors to avoid polythene-based products and maintain the pristine beauty of the beach. “Preserving our environment is crucial to ensure future generations can enjoy the natural treasures of Bhitarkanika,” said the Collector while highlighting the eco-friendly aspect of the retreat.
MLA Sahoo, who inaugurated the retreat, remarked, “The Eco Retreat has been a flagship event since its inception in 2020. Except for the first year, it has been conducted at Pentha beach for the last three years. With five-star accommodation and a variety of recreational activities, this initiative will undoubtedly appeal to national and international tourists alike.
The retreat will operate over the next 90 days providing an opportunity for visitors to experience Bhitarkanika’s natural treasures within the facilities of international quality. Tourists will be able to enjoy the Ramsar experience at this location with estuarine crocodiles, migratory birds, and rare mangroves.
